Collections Management (GSCI 673)
I teach Collections Management at Fort Hays State University through the Geosciences Department every other year. It is one of four courses taught within the Museum Certificate offered through the department. My course focuses on the minutia and philosophy that govern collections management. From how to package and receive loan requests, to the ethical dilemmas and ongoing debates of curating collections from different places, the course covers the spectrum of topics and skills needed to manage natural history collections in a modern world and for the future.
